Green festival for green neighborhood

Manhattan’s greenest neighborhood is celebrating the 40th anniversary of Earth Day with a week of free and inexpensive events starting Sat., April 17.

Battery Park City’s cultural groups, including Poets House, the Museum of Jewish Heritage and the newly opened B.P.C. library, are sponsoring the programs. Highlights include a free dance social with Thunderbird Indian Dancers and Singers at the Museum of the American Indian just outside of B.P.C. (free, April 17, 7-10 p.m.) and a “Green Giants” lecture and panel about retrofitting large buildings at the Skyscraper Museum (free, reservation required, April 22, 6:30-8 p.m.).
