Players on I.S. 89’s boys and girls basketball teams scrimmaged last week before their holiday. The teams, organized and coached as part of Manhattan Youth’s afterschool program, will be ready to resume the season next week in 2004. The girls, who won their one and only game this season, are hoping their 2003 success will be an omen for the New Year, whereas the boys see 2004 as a chance to rebound from an 0-3 start.
