Jean Sibelius Celebrates Finnish Mythology

The New York Philharmonic presents “Young People’s Concert: Once Upon a Time: ‘Myths and Legends,” highlighting the sweeping music of Jean Sibelius, born 150 years ago, that captured the Finnish epic poetry of “Kalevala” in such a powerful way that it is credited with encouraging the movement for that nation’s independence.
