Founded by Leonard Bernstein in 1984, the Cathedral Church of St. John the Divine’s annual New Year’s Eve Concert for Peace features Judy Collins and host Harry Smith, along with the Cathedral Choir and Orchestra and soprano soloist Jamet Pittman. The program includes Vivaldi’s “Gloria in excelsis deo, et in terra pax,” Moses Hogan’s “Walk Together, Children,” William Dawson’s “Balm in Gilead,” the traditional spiritual “This Little Light of Mine,” the world premiere of Robert Sirota and Victoria Sirota’ “Prelude and Spiritual for Mother Emanuel,” and, in tribute to Bernstein, his “Chichester Psalms.” 1047 Amsterdam Ave, btwn. 111th & 113 Sts.
