And bad grammar too?

Re “Board fines Lopez $170,000 for ’01 campaign” (news article, Feb. 24 – March 3):
Did Margarita Lopez really say, “My name have been put through the mud”? Not only are we electing corrupt officials but illiterate ones as well. Talk about the dumbing down of America!

Re “C.B. 1 lashes out at state bill to move 9/11 material from Fresh Kills” (news article, Feb. 24 – March 3):
“C.B. 1 members expressed doubt that the dust contained any human remains at all and worried about how the move could be financed. Cost estimates for some of the group’s suggestions run as high as $200 million and the Albany legislation does not address cost. ‘How do they expect to finance this?’ C.B. 1 W.TC. Redevelopment Committee Chairperson Catherine McVay Hughes told Downtown Express.”
Perhaps the $125 million dollars Mayor Bloomberg has so graciously allotted toward an aerial gondola project that would connect Lower Manhattan and Governors Island could be redirected toward this cause since C.B. 1 doesn’t appreciate that view marring project either (news article, Feb. 17 – 23, “That’s 125 million dollars, not lira for this island gondola”). Using these available funds for this most pressing social, moral and spiritual issue would be a coup in a sea of Republican and Democratic rhetorical baloney. Burying all the 9/11 dead properly from bones to dust has always been and should continue to remain the intention of the honorable people of the republic of New York. Would we ever want to be viewed by the world any other way?

Re “C.B. 1 lashes out at state bill to move 9/11 material from Fresh Kills” (news article, Feb. 24 – March 3):
The most revealing part of Community Board 1’s resolution is the phrase “or anywhere else.”
The most amazing (forensic expert) statement: “C.B. 1 members expressed doubt that the dust contained any human remains at all”
And finally, the most comical line in your story: “Families has also been in negations [sic] with the city to reach a settlement about moving the remains”. Do you realize how hilarious this typo is?
This board purports to have their collective finger on the pulse of W.T.C. re-development yet they are obviously clueless regarding the atrocity at Fresh Kills. Their uninformed and blatant knee-jerk behavior is inexcusable and unprofessional.
I hereby pass a resolution addressing C.B 1:
Before you draft another uninformed, all inclusive resolution (and I hope you used soft paper for your latest), make an attempt to learn at least some of the facts regarding the subject. Read a newspaper, make a few calls, “Google” it. This story is not new and it’s not going away until a proper, dignified burial occurs.
Your resolution is ridiculous and each member of your board revealed their depth, humanity and knowledge (or lack thereof).
Diane Horning, WTC Families For Proper Burial and America’s victims (we used to call them Heroes) deserve your undivided support. We’re all watching!
