The Liberty St. pedestrian bridge will be closed for Columbus Day weekend and will close the following weekend as well, for Port Authority work on the World Trade Center site.
After the bridge closed last weekend with little advance notice, several residents complained to Quentin Brathwaite, head of the Port’s Office of Program Logistics, and he promised better signage for future closings. Residents also asked the Port to post traffic agents at the nearest at-grade crossings whenever the bridge is closed, and Brathwaite said he would look into it.
