Man cuffed for fatal shooting that killed Virginia man in Upper West Side

Police arrested a suspect who they say is responsible for fatally shooting a man on the Upper West Side this past spring.

According to police, at 12:17 p.m. on May 1 officers from the 24th Precinct responded to a 911 call regarding shots fired in the back of 865 Amsterdam Avenue. Upon their arrival, officers found 28-year-old Virginia resident Ronald Thomas with a gunshot wound to the head.

Paramedics rushed to the location and declared Thomas dead at the scene.

On Aug. 15, police arrested 24-year-old Upper West Side resident Donta King in connection to the shooting. He was charged with murder, assault, reckless endangerment, and criminal use of a firearm.
