The cast and author of “Courting Mae West” celebrated after a reading before a full house at the Jefferson Market Library on Feb. 7. The play, by Village resident Linda Ann Loschiavo, at rear, involves the events of another Feb. 7 — in 1927 — when Mae West and 54 of her fellow cast members in the Broadway show “Sex” were held overnight on obscenity charges at the building when it was Jefferson Courthouse. Because of lack of space, many were turned away at the reading two weeks ago.
