Police are investigating a shooting in the Bronx on Easter Sunday that left a 29-year-old man dead.
Officers from the 48th Precinct responded to a 911 call of an incident inside a deli at 851 E. Tremont Ave. in West Farms at approximately 4:25 a.m. on March 31.
When the cops arrived, they found the victim, Stefon Barnes, 29, of Frederick Douglass Boulevard in the Bronx, shot one time in the right thigh, authorities said. The suspect had fled on foot in an unknown direction before police arrived.
EMS brought Barnes to St. Barnabas Hospital in critical condition where he was later pronounced dead, law enforcement sources said.
Police describe the perp as a male with a dark complexion.
It is not clear what sparked the incident. So far, no arrests have been made, and the investigation is ongoing.
