By JOSH ROGERS  | Workers were erecting a giant tent on Tribeca’s Pier 26 Wednesday and Thursday for an upcoming fashion show.

One worker said information on the event is being kept under tight wraps, but he did say Cirque du Soleil would be performing there. A spokesperson for the Hudson River Park Trust, the state-city authority which manages the pier, did not comment on that and would only say it was for a fashion show. She provided no other details including when the event will be.

Tribeca Citizen reported in May that Givenchy would be holding a Pier 26 event on Fri., Sept. 11 as part of New York Fall Fashion Week, which kicks off  Thursday.

There does not appear to be any mention of Pier 26 on Fashion Week’s site. In January, DNAinfo suggested that Pier 26 was one of the sites the festival would consider for its new base after leaving Lincoln Center, but a Trust spokesperson told the site then that there were no direct negotiations to make that happen.

Presumably noise at the Pier 26 show will be kept under control. Two years ago, Madelyn Wils, the Trust’s C.E.O. and a Tribecan, apologized to her neighbors for a loud concert series on the pier and hired an acoustics consultant to prevent future problems.
