“P.S. 130 is our home away from home, a place we will all never forget,” valedictorian Regina Lin said in her goodbye speech at the graduation ceremony. Lin went on to say that it appears as if “a journey of many years has ended. But in our hearts we know that, truly, our journeys have just begun.”

A main element of the graduation ceremony was a slideshow of pictures of the students throughout their time at the kindergarten-though-fifth-grade school. The pictures evoked bittersweet responses, as many recalled cherished memories of a closing chapter in the graduating students’ lives.

“I have really mixed feelings. I’m happy and excited to graduate, but sad to leave all of my friends,” a graduating fifth grader named Michael said just before his best friend interrupted, “so many great experiences, man!”
