Police need the public’s help in finding four suspects connected to a violent stabbing in Chelsea on Saturday morning that left two men injured — including a would-be peacemaker who had attempted to intervene.
According to authorities, the incident happened at about 3:55 a.m. on July 31 in front of a store at 676 6th Ave., near West 21st Street.
Law enforcement sources said the trouble began when the suspects got into an argument with a 23-year-old man for reasons that were not disclosed.
During the argument, cops said, another 23-year-old man got involved in the matter.
Things turned bloody, police noted, when one of the suspects pulled out a knife and stabbed the first victim in the right chest, and the would-be peacemaker in the left abdomen.
Following the attack, the attacker and his three cohorts fled the scene on foot northbound along 6th Avenue.
The assault was reported to the 13th Precinct. EMS rushed both victims to Bellevue Hospital, where they were listed in stable condition.
The four suspects are shown in security camera footage that police obtained from the scene.
Police described the attacker as a man with a dark complexion and a slim build believed to be between 20 and 25 years of age, standing between 6 feet, 2 inches and 6 feet, 3 inches tall, with dark curly hair and a short beard. He was last seen wearing a black t-shirt with white lettering on the front, and blue jeans.
The other suspects in the attack, police said, were also men with dark complexions believed to be between 20 and 25 years of age. Further description is as follows:
- Accomplice 1 has a slim build and stands between 5 feet, 8 inches and 5 feet, 9 inches tall, and was seen wearing a white t-shirt and dark jeans.
- Accomplice 2 stands between 5 feet, 6 inches and 5 feet, 7 inches tall, weighs about 130 pounds and was last seen wearing a gray sweatshirt with a V on the back and dark jeans.
