School assault
A 15-year-old boy was charged with juvenile assault for throwing a chair that hit a security guard at The Door on Thursday morning Feb. 1, police said. The guard at the alternative school at 555 Broome St. had told the boy to wait in the lobby for his guardian to take him home and was trying to stop the teen from entering the school when the incident occurred, police said.
It was the second recent violent incident involving The Door. On Jan. 24, police arrested a 13-year-old Door student for stabbing a 13-year-old classmate a few blocks away from the school.
Cocaine & larceny
A man was arrested for trying to walk out of Phat Farm, the boutique at 129 Prince St., with five pairs of jeans, four jackets, three shirts and two hats valued at a total of $1,610 without paying for them on Tuesday afternoon Feb. 6, police said. The suspect, Eusebio Torres, 31, of 605 F.D.R. Dr. in the Baruch Houses, was also carrying 18 small Ziploc bags of cocaine and a stolen credit card and was charged with larceny and drug possession, police said.
Assault on officer
Gregory Lester, 18, who was arrested for stealing a sandwich and a juice from a deli at 529 Broome St. near Thompson St. at about 9 a.m. Thur. Feb 1, was also charged with assault for hitting and pushing the arresting police officer to the ground, police said.
Shoplifter
A shoplifter fled the French Corner boutique at 464 Broadway at Grand St. at 5:30 p.m. Sat. Feb. 3 with five pairs of True Religion jeans with a total value of $1,200, police said.
Soho break-in
A resident of an apartment at 204 Spring St. told police on Jan. 24 that someone had entered her apartment the night before and made off with about 20 pieces of jewelry valued at a total of $12,900. There was no sign of forced entry and the victim said all the windows were locked but she may have left the door unlocked.
Card charges
A resident of 120 Cedar St. told police at the First Precinct on Jan. 18 that he discovered that $3,200 in unauthorized charges had been made since June 20 of last year on his three credit cards still in his possession. The victim said the charges had been made while he was in California.
Dressing room theft
A New Jersey woman shopping at a clothing store at 121 Spring St. near Greene St. on Sunday evening Jan. 28 left her bag under her coat in a dressing room when she stepped out to show the try-on to her friend and returned a minute later to find the bag gone, police said. The victim, 19, a student at Wagner College in Staten Island, told police she had seen someone go into the dressing room just after she stepped out. The store surveillance camera caught the image of a thin black woman about 5’5” wearing a red jacket and her hair in braids with blonde tips coming out of the dressing room, police said.
Pocket picked
A Battery Park City woman was walking on Broadway at Fulton St. at about 5:30 p.m. Tues. Jan. 23 when an unidentified stranger jostled her and lifted her wallet from her bag, police said. The victim, 29, told police the bag was clasped shut when she was jostled. She discovered that unauthorized charged totaling $350 had been made on her three credit cards.
Checked coat gone
A patron of Kana Tapas Bar, 324 Spring St. at Greenwich St. found that her coat, with her wallet in a pocket, which she had checked on Saturday night Jan. 20, was missing when she went to retrieve it at 3:30 a.m., police said. It was a cold trip home to Jersey City but she cancelled her credit cards before any unauthorized charges were made.
