Two elderly beaten
Police are seeking two robbers preying on elderly Asian men on the Lower East Side and Chinatown. The suspects are described as Hispanic men, between 5’6” and 5’8” tall and weighing between 140 and 150 pounds. On Thurs. July 19 at 7:40 p.m. they followed one victim, 81, into the lobby of 248 Broome St. near Ludlow St. knocked him to the floor, punched and kicked him, took an undisclosed amount of cash from him and fled. The victim was taken to Beth Israel Hospital, where stitches were required to close cuts in his face, police said.
On Sun. Aug. 26, they followed another victim, 71, into the building at 34 Orchard St., between Canal and Hester Sts., knocked him to the floor, punched and kicked him and took his wallet with an undisclosed amount of cash. The victim was taken to New York Downtown Hospital where he was treated for a fractured rib, police said.

Peck Slip robberies
Police arrested one of five teenagers accused of attacking two men who were walking on Peck Slip at South St. at 1 a.m. on Mon. Sept. 3. One of the victims, 37, was pushed against a lamppost, sustained cuts on his face and his cell phone was taken and smashed, police said. The gang fled but police arrested Ricky McClinton, 19, and charged him with gang assault and robbery.
The following day, police arrested three of four teenagers accusing them of harassing and robbing a girl, 17, as she was walking on Peck Slip at Pearl St. at about 1 p.m. The gang surrounded the girl and one of them smacked her in the face and snatched her cell phone and another tried to take her wallet out of her back pocket, police said. They fled but police caught up with three of them at Frankfort and Pearl Sts. and charged John Robison, 16, his brother Shaqwan Robison, 14, and Rasheen Bradford, 19, with robbery and gang assault.
Police don’t know if the two incidents are connected.
Woman robbed
Two muggers assaulted and robbed a woman, 25, when she walked out of the elevator of her Cherry St. building in the LaGuardia Houses at about 4 p.m. Thurs. Aug. 30, police said. The assailants choked the victim, punched her in the eye and fled with her bag. The victim declined medical attention. Police said the robbery was apparently not by the same suspects who victimized elderly Asian men on Broome St. in July and on Orchard St. last month.
Both muggers are about 5’6” or 5’7” and weigh about 150 pounds, police said.
Hudson Sq. burglary
Burglars made their way into Sway, a club at 305 Spring St. near Renwick St. sometime between 5:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. Labor Day when the manager discovered a hole had been cut in the side of the safe and about $10,000 in cash was gone, police said. There was no sign of forced entry and the office where the safe was located was not locked. About 300 receipts and two cell phones were also stolen.
Restaurant burglars
Burglars entered Mary Ann’s, a restaurant at 107 W. Broadway near Reade St., sometime between 1 a.m. and 8:45 a.m. Sun. Sept 2, and took $1,100 in cash, a computer terminal and tried but failed to break into the safe, police said. The thieves entered through an unlocked door that the restaurant shares with the rest of the building and cut the restaurant’s alarm wires, police said.
Arrested on Charlton St.
Police arrested two men for smoking marijuana on Charlton St. at Varick St at 2:30 p.m. Mon. Sept. 3. Police said the suspects, Alonzo Simpson and Craig Williams, both 39, were carrying stolen tools and were charged with possession of stolen property as well as possession of a controlled substance.
Shoplift gets rough
Police arrested Amado Diaz, 34, for robbery and assault at 4 p.m. Mon. Sept 3 in front of 300 Canal St. across from Mercer St. Diaz was charged with punching and knocking out two teeth of the Canal St. merchant, who tried to recover items that the suspect had stuffed into a shopping bag and walked out without paying for, police said.
Robbed on W. Broadway
A 16-year-old from Farmingdale, L.I., told police he was walking on W. Broadway at Lispenard St. at 12:30 p.m. Mon., Aug 20 when a stranger offered to sell him fake ID for $100. When the teenager declined, the stranger indicated he had a knife and ordered him to empty his pockets. The thief took $160 in cash and the victim’s cell phone and fled, police said.
Bank robber
A man walked into the Commerce Bank branch at 2 Wall St. at 9:45 a.m. Sat., Sept. 1 and told the teller, “If I don’t receive money I’ll start shooting,” police said. The teller gave the robber — described as a medium-build, black man, 6’2” — a bag with a dye pack and $4,720. The thief fled, the dye pack exploded when he reached Wall St., but he held onto the bag of money and was not apprehended.
Dispute turns rough
Police arrested Dominique Milord, 39, and charged her with assault at 7:30 a.m. Sun. Sept. 2 for hitting a man in the head with a small statue in his apartment at 355 South End Ave. in Battery Park City. The victim, 40, told police that the suspect went on a rampage and tore up his apartment during dispute about the return of various items.
