Police are looking for a man wanted for molesting a nine-year-old girl in the Seward Park branch of the New York Public Library at 192 East Broadway around 5 p.m. on May 6. The suspect was described as a white man in his mid 40s, between 5’9” and 6’ tall, medium build with short salt and pepper hair, wearing a black T shirt, shorts, a gray cap and carrying a black bag with a strap.
Police said he stalked the victim, an Asian girl, grabbed her by her shirt when she was out of her mother’s sight, and covered her mouth and sexually groped her before making a quick exit out of the library.

Not guilty
A Manhattan jury found Henry Santos, 26, not guilty on Mon., May 10 of the burglary of the penthouse loft at 179 Duane St. of the actress Amanda Peet on Oct. 11 last year. Santos had been charged with another burglary on Aug. 31 last year of an apartment at 233 E. Fourth St. but that charge has been dropped. The not guilty verdict on Monday came after an hour-long deliberation and before Santos belatedly arrived at the courthouse, according to a New York Post item.
Cupcakes and beyond
A suspect arrested for the burglary of a bakery in the Village on Fri., May 7 confessed to 10 other burglaries, including one on Nassau St. in Lower Manhattan earlier this year.
Sixth Precinct police arrested Charles Carillo, 38, on May 7 for breaking into Crumbs, 124 University Pl., around 4 a.m. strewing cupcakes all over the floor and making off with an undetermined sum of cash from the register and a laptop computer. Carillo was also charged with the burglary of Five Guys Burgers, 296 Bleecker St. around 2 a.m. Wed., April 14 stealing $834. He confessed to breaking into Energy Kitchen, 71 Nassau St. on Feb. 19, and to the burglary of Neptune Diner, 194 First Ave., on March 4. Carillo also admitted to six other burglaries in Midtown between Nov. 2009 and January of this year.
South St. floater
Police responded to a 9:30 a.m. call on Thurs., May 6 of a body in the East River off the South St. Seaport. A police harbor unit brought the victim, identified only as a Hispanic man, 48, to Pier 11 where he was pronounced dead by an Emergency Medical Service team. The Medical Examiner’s office is investigating the cause of death.
