Assault arrest
Police arrested Dennis McCarvill, 25, on Fri., Aug. 6 and charged him with first degree assault and fourth degree criminal possession of a weapon in connection with the May 31 beating of a victim in front of the Two Rivers bar, 10 Murray St.
McCarvill grabbed a stick during an argument at 12:30 a.m., beat the victim about the face and seriously injured him, according to the complaint filed by Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus Vance Jr. McCarvill pleaded not guilty and was freed on $10,000 bail pending a Nov. 4 court appearance. A New York Post item said the victim underwent two surgeries and received 14 stitches as a result of the injuries.
Cycle stolen
A resident of Riverside Terrace in Battery Park City told police she locked her bicycle to a rack in the Hudson River Park at the southwest corner of W. 26th St. and the West Side Highway around 2 p.m. Sat., Aug. 4 and when she returned an hour and a half later, she found the bike, valued at $800, had been stolen.
