A motorcycle slammed into an oncoming car on W. Broadway in Soho last Friday evening. Both the driver and car’s passenger were rushed to the hospital to receive medical attention.
Child porn arrest
David Conlon, 54, of Staten Island, a Department of Citywide Administrative Services employee at the Municipal Building on Chambers St., was arrested by the city Department of Investigation on Thurs. May 14 and charged with possession of child pornography, police said.
Wallet missing
A woman patron of a bar at 114 Franklin St. discovered that her wallet with credit cards and cash had been taken from her bag when she went to pay her tab on Wed. May 19, police said. The victim, 36, said that she had placed her bag on the bar top and on the floor near her chair at various times during her stay and did not notice anyone near it.
John St. dip
A woman who works in an office at 59 John St. told police on Tues. May 18 that she discovered that her bag was opened and her wallet with credit cards and $15 was gone. The victim, 59, said she had been walking on the crowded street during her lunch break but did not notice her bag being picked.
Youth robbed
A 15-year-old student at Chelsea Vocational High School, 131 Sixth Ave. near Broome St., told police that a teenager threatened him outside the school at 1 p.m. on Fri. May 14. The victim said he gave the thief $50 “because he feared for his life,” according to police.
Charge disputed
A New Jersey man told police on May 18 that he discovered an unauthorized charge of $2,400 on his credit card by Churascaria Plataforma Tribeca, a restaurant at 221 W. Broadway, police said. Evidence in the locker of an employee linked him to the charge, police said. The restaurant’s owner said the employee was a part-time bartender and restaurant employees made sure the man reported the incident to police immediately.
Baruch Houses search
Heavily armed law enforcement agents went through 80 Baruch Dr. in the Baruch Houses floor by floor at about 5:30 p.m. Thurs. May 13, according to residents of the Lower East Side complex who witnessed the event. “There were 10 police cars and two SWAT teams with assault rifles,” said Israel Perez, vice president of the Baruch Tenants Association and one of the witnesses. A police spokesperson said the Seventh Precinct had no reports of an enforcement effort nor of arrests.
Tribeca bank holdup
A man who appeared to be in his 30s walked into the Commerce Bank branch at 25 Hudson St. near Duane St. at 1:30 p.m. Thurs. May 13 passed a note to a teller demanding money and fled with an undetermined amount of cash, police said.
