Pedestrian killed on Bowery
Wynee Wong, 21, of Pearl St., who had graduated the week before from Bucknell University, was struck and killed by a private sanitation truck at 9 p.m. Thurs. May 27 as she was crossing Bowery at Bayard St., a block south of Canal St. The truck was turning onto Bowery from Bayard St. and stopped after the accident, police said. There was no arrest.
Find fetus near school
A five-month-old fetus was found at 5:30 a.m. Thurs. May 27 on a walkway behind P.S. 140 between Stanton and Rivington Sts., police said. The Medical Examiner’s office is investigating the case.
Bicyclist injured on Canal
A westbound car on Canal St. struck and seriously injured Sue Chan, 39, as she was riding her bicycle on Lafayette St. at 10 p.m. Sun. May 30, police said. Chan was taken to St. Vincent’s Hospital where her condition on Tues. June 1 remained critical.
Breaks up club
A man who entered NV, the club at 304 Hudson St. at Spring St. at 6:30 p.m. Wed. May 26, began to remove liquor bottles from behind the bar, police said. He broke one of the bottles and threatened club security guards who detained him for police. The suspect, Lucito Medina, 43, was charged with burglary and menacing.
Locker room theft
A patron of a fitness club at 160 Water St. told police that his credit cards, $350, a suit and other clothes were taken from his locker on Friday morning May 11.
Laptop gone
A thief took a laptop computer, a palm pilot and assorted software from an office at 125 Maiden La. sometime after 9 p.m. Sat. May 19, police said.
Pizza stand fracas
An argument at a pizza stand at 461 Broadway near Grand St. at 3:30 p.m. Friday May 18 turned violent, said police, who arrested Joaquin Rosales, 50, and charged him with assault, accusing him of hitting his adversary in the arm with a stick.
Fight on Canal
The brother of a woman who was arguing with a man on Monday afternoon May 21 at the corner of Canal and Mercer Sts. told police that his sister’s adversary hit him in the face when he tried to intervene. The victim’s nose was badly injured, police said.
Suitcase snatched
A patron of a cafe at 527 Broadway near Spring St. found that her suitcase, which she had placed at the side of her table, was missing at about 5:30 p.m. Fri. May 11, police said. The suitcase contents included $150 in cash as well as credit cars and personal documents.
Bag taken
A woman told police that her bag was taken from her side while she was in a restaurant at Chambers and Church Sts. at about 9 p.m. Sat. May 12. She said she later discovered several unauthorized charges on her credit card.
