Stabbing death
Gerlin Collandro, 20, of 649 E. Fifth St., was stabbed to death on Sunday morning Feb. 25 on the L train platform at New Lots Ave. in Brooklyn in a dispute with five young men, police said.
The five suspects, including Samuel Villanueva, 18, of Brooklyn, charged with manslaughter and gang assault, were arrested. Wilson Rodriguez, 17, and Franklin Ciprian, 16, of Brooklyn, and Michael Estella, 17, of Queens, were charged with gang assault.
Collandro, stabbed several times in the torso, was taken to Brookdale Hospital in Brooklyn, where he was pronounced dead.
Coat on bar
A patron of Martine, a bar at 365 W. 16th St., left his coat on the bar while talking with friends on the night of Feb. 5, and discovered after he went home that several charges had been made on his missing credit card at two locations, police said.
Rapper traffic
Trevor Smith, the hip-hop performer known as Busta Rhymes, who was already facing two charges of assault, was stopped at 6 a.m. Thurs., Feb. 22, at Broadway and Warren St. and charged with running a red light and driving without a license. He was released on his own recognizance.
On Feb. 20, he was offered a sentence of three years probation, six months of anger-management classes and three weeks of community service for a guilty plea on combined charges that he assaulted his former driver in December of last year on W. Broadway at Chambers St. and that he assaulted a bystander in August on Sixth Ave. at W. 19th St. He declined the offer and is due back in court on the assault charges and the driving violations on March 26.
Pedestrian hit
A woman, 23, crossing W. 37th St. at Ninth Ave. at 9:30 p.m. Sun., Feb. 26, was struck by a westbound pickup truck on 37th St., police said. The driver, 52, stopped and was given a summons for failing to give a pedestrian the right of way. The victim, Sabrina Parady, was taken to St. Vincent’s Hospital in critical condition.
Pocket picked
A woman told police that an unknown pickpocket took her wallet while she was in the Eighth Ave. subway station at 14th St. on Thursday evening Feb. 15. She lost $300 in cash and a credit card, which she later found had several unauthorized charges.
Fake agent
A Chelsea resident told police that a man purporting to be a real estate agent showed her an apartment that she liked at 214 E. 25th St. on Feb. 13. The agent accompanied her to her bank on Seventh Ave. at 17th St., where she withdrew $2,395 and gave him the money for rent and security. She said she went to the apartment a week later and found it was already rented. The “agent” was nowhere to be found.
Cell phone snatch
A man who was talking on his cell phone while walking on W. 27th St. between 10th and 11th Aves. at 6 p.m. Mon., Feb. 19, was mugged by two men who came up from behind, police said. One of the thieves grabbed the victim’s wrist and the other snatched the phone.
Pink Elephant
A New Jersey man told police he went to Crobar, the club at 530 W. 28th St., at about 10:30 p.m. Sat., Feb. 17, and gave a bartender his credit card and driver’s license before he ran up a tab. When he asked to settle the tab, he was told that the card and license had been returned. After he got home, he discovered that someone had made charges that night at Pink Elephant, a club on W. 27th St., police said.
