PETIT LARCENY: Sweet, salty and chewy

Five men reportedly worked together to nick candy, cheese and gum from a 7-Eleven convenience store at 302 Eighth Ave. (btw. W. 25th & W. 26th Sts.). A 27-year-old employee told police that the men entered the store just before 9:30 p.m. on Wed., July 1. They then proceeded to pick up merchandise. One of them then grabbed the $35 worth of loot before fleeing. Police canvassed the surrounding area shortly after but made no progress in locating the suspects, according to a police report.

PETIT LARCENY: Police nab protein-seeking senior

Whole Foods did not take kindly to a 68-year-old woman who tried to steal $100 worth of groceries. The attempted shoplifter was caught as she tried to conceal $68 worth of meat, $31 worth of seafood and a buck’s worth of lemons from the store located at 250 Seventh Ave. (btw. W. 24th & W. 25th Sts.). A 52-year-old employee confronted the suspect at about 5:30 p.m. on Thurs., July 2. The store intends to pursue misdemeanor charges against the protein-hungry suspect, according to a police report.

CRIMINAL MISCHIEF: Making his own way in

The motive was unclear, but police say that a 23-year-old Chelsea man made his frustration clear when he could not enter an Artichoke Pizza restaurant (10th Ave. btw. W. 17th & W. 18th Sts.) on June 24. Store security was closing shop at 4:30 a.m. when the suspect attempted to enter the pizzeria via a side door. Thwarted in that effort, the man then kicked an exterior glass panel, shattering the glass. Police reportedly know his name but have yet to arrest him.

CRIMINAL POSSESSION OF MARIJUANA: Not too high for arrest

Police arrested a 23-year-old man just after 1:30 a.m. on Fri., July 3 while he toked away on the 24th floor of a Fulton Houses building (which, coincidentally, bears the address 420 W. 19th St.). An officer with the NYPD’s 10th Precinct told Chelsea Now that public smoking of ganja remains a misdemeanor offense, though officers now have leeway to issue summons for mere possession.

CRIMINAL MISCHIEF: Parked car gets bashed

A Bronx man finished work on July 1 only to find a can of whoop-ass was unleashed on his automobile parked on the 300 block of W. 17th St. (btw. 9th & 10th Aves.). An unknown perpetrator utilized a metal sign to damage his front hood sometime before 11 p.m. that night.

BURGLARY: Using windows to steal Apple computers

A burglar had made off with $3,600 of electronics on Fri., July 3 by entering an apartment on the 200 block of W. 24th St. (btw. Seventh & Eighth Aves.) through an apartment window, police say. The caper occurred sometime before the 26-year-old victim returned home at 11:15 a.m. The felony-grade loot included a $3,000 MacBook Pro, $500 Apple laptop and a $100 pair of Skull Candy headphones. Police searched the residential building but could not locate the missing items — nor a suspect, according to a police report.
