A marijuana fan showed pot pride during last Saturday’s Cures Not Wars parade. The march went from Broadway and Houston St. to City Hall Park, where the pot puffers rallied for safer preparation and use of drugs and safer drugs. Asked if anyone smoked joints in City Hall Park, parade organizer Dana Beal said, “Geez, I didn’t notice…. People were observing requests that they not smoke, by and large. There were two arrests — apparently they had blunts [cigars with pot in them]. But I never saw anything other than what looked like a stogie.” A Police Department spokesperson said there were, in fact, four arrests, two in Washington Square Park and two in City Hall Park, including two for criminal possession of marijuana, one for criminal sale of marijuana and one for criminal possession of a weapon, which was not a gun, he said.
