LaGuardia Airport was still experiencing delays Tuesday after the hard landing a day earlier of a Southwest Airlines flight, which left 10 people injured. Departing flights were delayed up to an hour late in the morning, a Port Authority official told Newsday. The Boeing 737-700 has been towed to a hangar so that National Transportation Safety Board officials could investigate why its nose gear collapsed upon landing. 

Eyes turn to A-Rod
Will Alex Rodriguez be hit with a lengthy suspension soon? On Monday, Major League Baseball suspended the Milwaukee Brewers’ Ryan Braun for the rest of the season for using performance enhancing drugs from the same Florida clinic that A-Rod has been linked to. Rodriguez, who is trying to join the Bronx Bombers for the first time this season after dealing with hip and quad injuries, has denied he received any PEDs from the facility. Meanwhile in other Yankees news, the team is reportedly close to trading for Cubs outfielder Alfonso Soriano, who played for the Bombers from 1999-2003.

Ronell Wilson death penalty trial draws to a close
Closing arguments in the death penalty trial of Ronell Wilson, who fatally shot two NYPD undercover officers during a failed drug sting operation in 2003, could begin Tuesday. Wilson, 31, would be the first person to be executed in New York in a half-century. He was convicted in 2006 and sentenced to death in 2007, but a federal appeals court overturned the sentence because of comments made by a prosecutor in the sentencing trial. Wilson later made headlines for fathering a child with a prison guard.

Mayoral candidates discuss HIV/AIDS
Several mayoral candidates will head to Chelsea on Tuesday evening to participate in the Gay Men’s Health Crisis forum on HIV and AIDS. Bill de Blasio, John Liu, Bill Thompson, Anthony Weiner, Sal Albanese and Adolfo Carrion Jr. are confirmed to attend the forum, which begins at 5:30 p.m.

Free opera comes to the Bronx
Four up-and-coming artists from the Metropolitan Opera will perform a free show at Crotona Park in the Bronx Tuesday night as part of the Met’s Summer Recital Series. The hour-long concert, which begins at 7 p.m., will feature soprano Ying Fang, tenor Mario Chang, bass-baritone Brandon Cedel and pianist Bradley Moore.
