Ships ahoy at 23rd St. on the 4th

Friends of Hudson River Park and the North River Historic Ship Society will host the fourth annual Historic Ship Day from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sun. July 4 at Pier 63 Maritime at 23rd St.

Vintage vessels open to the public will include the 1929 lightship Frying Pan and the decommissioned 1931 fireboat John J. Harvey. “Hidden Harbor Tours” will take visitors on hour-and-a-half boat tours of the working waterfront including active and derelict piers and sites of old marine wrecks. Tickets are $10 ($6 for children and seniors) for the tours scheduled for 11 a.m., 1 p.m. and possibly 3 p.m.
