St. Paul’s Chapel opened its original front entrance on Church St. for the first time in at least two years on Monday. Nathan Brockman, a church spokesperson, said church officials were not certain of the precise dates, but the gates, which were built in 1975 because of the new skyscrapers across the street, the Twin Towers, have been closed at least since the Sept. 11 attack. Brockman said with the large number of tourists and visitors coming to the World Trade Center site, it made sense to welcome them into the courtyard and cemetery’s original front entrance. He said about 100 years after the historic church was built in 1766, the church moved its front entrance from Church St. to Broadway.
