Actor Kirk Douglas, 90, spoke at Battery Park City’s Museum of Jewish Heritage Sunday. Originally named Issur, Douglas was the son of Russian Jewish immigrants and grew up in New York. One audience member said he was also named Issur and had met the movie star many years ago at the Waldorf Astoria. “I want to know, what were two men named Issur doing at the Waldorf Astoria in the first place,” Douglas replied. “I love America.” He was promoting his new book, “Let’s Face It: 90 Years of Living, Loving, and Learning.”
