Wed., Sept. 18 – Tue., Sept. 24

ALTERNATE SIDE PARKING IS SUSPENDED THURSDAY AND FRIDAY FOR SUKKOT
The U.N. General Assembly opens this week and will have some impacts on Lower Manhattan traffic. The biggest impacts will be on Monday and Tuesday, the 23rd and 24th, when President Obama comes to town. He usually choppers into the Wall St. Heliport and then travels up the F.D.R. This forces traffic onto the West Side Highway, and to some extent onto Church, Broadway, and Water St. There will also be some domino traffic next week as drivers avoid the Queens-Midtown Tunnel and opt for the Williamsburg Bridge adding traffic to Delancey St. For the latest on heads of states screwing up traffic, follow me on Twitter @gridlocksam.

The 86th Annual Feast of San Gennaro will close Mulberry St. between Canal and E Houston Sts., and Grand and Hester Sts. between Mott and Centre Sts. 11:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. Wednesday Thursday, and Sunday, and 11:30 a.m. to 11:59 p.m. Friday and Saturday.

The Bleecker Street Festival will close Bleecker St. between Seventh and Eighth Aves. 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday.

All southbound lanes on the West Side Highway will close between W 44th and N Moore St. 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday for the Run 10 Feed 10 race. Ninth into Bleecker, Seventh into Varick will be hardest hit.

The Jets play the Bills 4:30 p.m. Sunday at MetLife Stadium. Fans heading to and from the game will slow down the Lincoln Tunnel, sending more drivers south to the Holland Tunnel and onto Canal St.

All Manhattan-bound lanes of the Brooklyn Bridge will close 11 p.m. Thursday to 6 a.m. Friday, 12:01 a.m. to 7 a.m. Saturday, 12:01 a.m. to 9 a.m. Sunday, and 11 p.m. to Monday 6 a.m. Tuesday.

In the Hugh L. Carey (Brooklyn Battery) Tunnel, one tube will close 9 p.m. Friday through 5 a.m. Monday this weekend and five upcoming weekends through November. One lane will remain open in each direction in the other tube. More drivers will head to the Brooklyn and Manhattan bridges during the closure, so expect delays at all three crossings.

In the Battery Park Underpass, one of two eastbound lanes will close between West St. / Route 9A and the FDR 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. weekdays through the end of the month.

The Sukkot Block Party and Family Festival will close Duane St. between Church St. and West Broadway 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday.

The Stone Street OysterFest will close Stone St. between Hanover Square and Broad St., Mill Lane between South William and Stone Sts., and Hanover Square between Pearl and William Sts. 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday.

Whitehall St. will close between Broadway and Beaver St. 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday.

John St. will close between Broadway and Nassau St. 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday and Tuesday.

As of Saturday, September 14, construction work at the intersection of Fulton and Water Sts. has shifted to the west side of Water St. between Beekman and John Sts., where one of two southbound lanes is closed through spring 2014.

Franklin St. is fully closed between Hudson and Varick Sts. until Tuesday, October 1.
