ALTERNATE SIDE PARKING RULES ARE IN EFFECT ALL WEEK

Political fever is taking over New York! With debates, protestors, rallies, and more leading up to the New York primary expect traffic turbulence in Lower Manhattan. Be sure to follow me on Twitter @GridlockSam for tips as the action unfolds. A rally for Bernie at Foley Sq. will gather around 10 a.m. Saturday and march to Union Sq. at 1 p.m. Street closures will be at the NYPD’s discretion. The route will impact Centre St. between Worth and Broome Sts., Cleveland Pl. between Broome and Spring Sts., Lafayette St. between Spring St. and Astor Pl., and Fourth Ave. between Astor Pl. and 14th St. to Union Square Park.

The Tribeca Film Festival is in full swing this week, with screenings and events each day. Hotspots to watch for include the Samsung 837 theater on Washington and 13th Sts., the Borough of Manhattan Community College at Harrison and West Sts., and North End Ave. and Vesey St. The Tribeca Film Festival Women’s Filmmakers Lunch event will cause slowdowns noon to 4 p.m. Friday on West Broadway between Thomas and Duane Sts.

A benefit walk for MS research will close several sidewalks and back up streets on the west side and near Battery Park City 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, including: 12th St. between West Side Highway and Washington St., Washington St. between 12th and 14th Sts., 14th St. between Washington St. and Eighth Ave., Eighth Ave. between 14th and Hudson Sts., Hudson St. between Eighth Ave. and Chambers St., and Chambers St. between Hudson St. and the West Side Highway.

A demonstration in support of Peter Liang 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday will cause slowdowns on Lafayette St. between Worth and Reade Sts., the southbound lanes on Centre St. between Reade St. and Park Row, and the Brooklyn Bridge Pedestrian Walkway.

The Stone St. Pedestrian Mall will close Stone St. between Broad St. and Hanover Sq., and Mill Ln. between S. William and Stone Sts. 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. each day this week.

In the Battery Park Underpass there will be a full closure of the north tube from the FDR to West St. 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. each weekday night and 1 a.m. to 8 a.m. Saturday morning. Use the detour and exit onto South St., continue on to Whitehall St., turn left onto State St. to Battery Pl., and then turn left onto Battery Pl. to West St.

The North and South tubes will fully close in both directions from 1 a.m. to 5 a.m. each weekday night. For the south tube detour go south on West St., left onto Battery Pl., continuing onto State St., and going one block north on Water St., then right onto Broad St.
