Curbing development and preserving affordable housing were the top two issues community members voiced at Borough President Scott Stringer’s Dec. 6 Lower East Side town hall meeting. Stringer said the city must be affordable for longtime residents and newcomers alike, and that he’s looking forward to a meeting with John Sexton, New York University’s president, and community members to discuss N.Y.U. development issues. The town hall was co-sponsored by Community Board 3 and Good Old Lower East Side, the tenant and housing advocacy group.
