Two firefighters were injured while battling a blaze that broke out 13 stories above ground at the Smith Houses public housing complex in Lower Manhattan on Wednesday night.

At around 6:23 p.m. on Dec. 9, flames could be seen bursting from a 13th floor window from a 17-story high-rise in the complex located at 182 South St.

A cavalcade of fire trucks arrived, bringing firefighters who scoured the building, evacuating all who were in potential danger.

Concerned bystanders gathered amidst pulsating red flashes and the sound of whining sirens to watch firefighters hook up their hoses and battle the blaze.
