Vincent Polsinelli, a native of the Village who lived in the neighborhood until he moved to Colorado in 1966, died April 19 in Longmont United Hospital, in Longmont, Col., at the age of 87.
He was born April 6, 1920, on MacDougal St., the third child of Loretto and Rosanna Polsinelli, who arrived in New York City from Italy in 1910 and owned a fruit and vegetable store on Bleecker St. for many years.
He was a quality control engineer and worked for IBM from 1965 until he retired in 1983. A frequent visitor to the Village since he moved to Colorado, he was known as “Poppy” by his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
An avid bridge player, Vincent Polsinelli was active in the Longmont Senior Center. He was also a volunteer reader at Central Elementary School and served on the accountability and accreditation committee of the St. Varian Valley School District.
Survivors include three daughters, Loretta Kumpf, of Basking Ridge, N.J.; Marjorie Perry, of Longmont; and Terri Bristow of Sequim, Wash.; two nieces, Rosanna Cafaro Polsinelli and Adelaide Polsinelli; a nephew, John Olcese; and six grandchildren. Also surviving are 17 great-grandchildren.
