Lunar New Year 4704, the Year of the Dog began Sunday in Chinatown with fireworks. The pre-holiday festivities kicked off Friday with the annual flower market. The big parade will be Sunday at 1 p.m. starting at Canal and Mott Sts. Above left, New York State Supreme Court Justice Doris Ling-Cohan held lettuce for the traditional lion dance performance. Judge Ling-Cohan made national news last year when she ordered the City Clerk to issue marriage licenses to same sex couples. Her decision is now before the Court of Appeals, New York’s highest court.
