A bicyclist died of his injuries after he was hit by a car in Brooklyn early Thursday morning.
Authorities say that at 12:35 a.m. on Sept. 10, police responded to a 911 call regarding a pedestrian struck by a vehicle at Avenue N and Ocean Parkway. Upon their arrival, officers found 29-year-old Yasmani Gomez at the scene with trauma to his head.
A preliminary investigation found that Gomez was riding his bike eastbound on Avenue N and attempting to cross Ocean Parkway at the crosswalk when he was hit by a 2020 Camaro SS traveling northbound on Ocean Parkway with the green light.
EMS rushed Gomez to Maimonides Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The driver remained at the scene following the collision. The investigation is ongoing.
