Affordable housing lottery to offer 181 units in Brooklyn building near Barclays Center

One of Brooklyn’s newest residential buildings will on Wednesday open lottery registration for its affordable units through the city’s NYC Housing Connect portral.

The lottery is for 181 below market-rate units at 461 Dean St., a 32-story modular tower adjacent to the Barclays Center that is expected to open this fall.

Forest City Ratner Companies is the lead developer.

Over 70 of the affordable housing units at 461 Dean St. will be made available for middle income residents earning more than 100% of the area median income, up to $144,960 per year.

The other 100 affordable units will be designated for those making less than the area median income, as low as $20,675 per year.

Development across the adjacent Pacific Park area will add 6,430 new units of housing across 14 residential buildings; 2,250 of those apartments will be made affordable to low and middle-income New Yorkers.

The window for applying to the 461 Dean St. lottery is open for 60 days and more affordable housing lotteries are slated to open as development rolls out across Pacific Park.

“The 461 Dean housing lottery is a key first step in fulfilling our commitment to creating an inclusive, diverse and vibrant neighborhood at Pacific Park Brooklyn,” said Ashley Cotton, senior vice president of external affairs at Forest City Ratner Companies in a statement.
