Motorcyclist dies in crash with minivan on a Brooklyn street

Police are investigating the death of a motorcyclist who was struck and killed by a driver in a minivan on a Brooklyn street Saturday night.

Law enforcement sources said the crash happened at around 11:18 p.m. on Nov. 2 at the corner of Ellery Street and Tompkins Avenue.

According to preliminary information from the NYPD, the 27-year-old male victim was riding his 2015 Yamaha motorcycle in the designated bike lane when he was hit by the driver as he turned his gray 2016 Honda Odyssey left onto Ellery Street.

The minivan remained at the scene following the incident.

Officers from the 79th Precinct and EMS units, in responding to a 911 call about the crash, found the motorcyclist on the street with severe trauma to his body. Paramedics rushed him to Bellevue Hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead.

No charges have been filed against the minivan driver at this time. The investigation is ongoing.
