Myle Technologies launched a ride-hailing service on Feb. 19 that is designed to save New Yorkers money by forgoing surge pricing and hidden fees.

Aleksey Medvedovskiy had been a part of the New York taxi industry for 20 years and wanted to create a ride-hailing app that would be “for New Yorkers, by New Yorkers.”

“As a veteran of the New York Taxi industry and an entrepreneur, I knew there had to be a better solution, so I set out to design and build a ride-hailing service that New Yorkers actually want to use,” said Aleksey Medvedovskiy, founder and CEO of Myle Technologies.

The app offers on-demand and pre-scheduled rides to riders in each of the five boroughs. Myle has options for rides for Regular (four seats), SUV (six seats), Shared, Premium, Premium SUV and Wheelchair Accessible vehicles.

Myle has 5,000 drivers, made up of people with yellow taxis, green cabs, their own vehicles, and sometimes people who work for Uber and Lyft as well.

The pricing listed in the app only charges riders for the cost of the distance travelled and the estimated time. The rates do not change due to busy conditions and there are no cancellation fees until the driver is at the pick-up location. There are also no lost item fees.

The flat rate should save riders on average 10%, Medvedovskiy said. It could save riders more when considering the hidden fees.

“I think there’s a huge disconnect in the industry between taxis and black cars,” Medvedovskiy said. “I decided to put everyone on one platform and balance the industry out between yellow and black cars. Everyone’s equal now. Anybody can make pick-ups.”

Medvedovskiy has been developing the app for two years with the help of a team of engineers and consultants, he said. They began operating six months ago to work out the kinks of the app.

Myle will expand to Long Island within the year and will also launch in Las Vegas, Medvedovskiy said. He hopes they will launch in other major hubs and cities across the country soon.

The Myle ride app is available for Google Play and the App Store. More information about Myle is available at ridemyle.com.
