A Los Angeles judge reportedly has declined to grant singer Ciara sole custody of her and rapper Future’s child.
TMZ.com on Tuesday said a court the day before had granted a request by Future, 32, born Nayvadius DeMun Wilburn, for joint custody of son Future Zahir Wilburn, who turns 2 on Thursday. Despite the decision, Ciara, 30, born Ciara Harris, afterward tweeted, “Where There’s FAITH, There’s HOPE. God is An Awesome God!”
Future and R&B songstress Ciara had been locked in a lengthy custody battle, and on Jan. 21, she filed a $15 million lawsuit against him in Georgia’s Fulton County Superior Court, claiming defamation, slander and libel. Earlier that month, Georgia-based Future had posted four since-deleted tweets that contained a derogatory term toward her, said she had “control problems” and claimed, “I gotta go through lawyers to see babyfuture” despite, he wrote, paying “15k a month” in child support. The last tweet read, “I jus want babyfuture that’s all. I been silent for a year & a half. . . . I ran outta patience.”
Grammy Award-winner Ciara’s lawsuit contends Future has had at least 19 visitations, some spanning several days, since December 2014, and that he never paid $15,000 monthly child support, according to The Atlanta Journal-Constitution and entertainment-news site TheJasmineBrand.com, which obtained a copy of the lawsuit. Future countersued in April, the site said.
Future and Ciara began dating in early 2013 and became engaged that October, but ended their relationship in August 2014. The rapper has three children from previous relationships.
Ciara and Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson became engaged in March after first appearing publicly as a couple at a White House state dinner in April 2015.
