Frances Bean Cobain has filed for divorce from her husband of nearly two years, The Eeries frontman Isaiah Silva.
Court documents obtained by outlets including People magazine and “Entertainment Tonight” additionally show that despite widespread reports in late September 2014 that the two had “recently” married, they were wed on June 29, 2014.
Cobain, the artist daughter of rocker Courtney Love and her late husband, Nirvana singer-songwriter Kurt Cobain, asked that her premarital assets, including her father’s reportedly $450 million estate, be considered her separate property. Her filing also indicated she would consider paying Silva spousal support. The two have no children.
The couple never publicly acknowledged their marriage. The Southern California alternative newspaper OC Weekly said in October 2011 that the two had alluded to an engagement on their now-defunct Facebook pages, which they kept under the assumed names Frances Rachel Leigh Cook and Isaiah David Berkowitz-Cusack. A screengrab of one post by her reads, “Getting to spend the rest of my life loving my best friend makes me the luckiest woman in the world.”
The formerly difficult relationship between Cobain and her mother appears to have softened recently, with Love, 51, tweeting a photo Tuesday of her daughter across a table at the historic London hotel Claridge’s, sipping from a Champagne flute. “Tea at Claridges . . . #proudmom #London,” she wrote.
