Gene Wilder dead: Celebrities react to ‘Willy Wonka’ actor’s passing

Gene Wilder, best known for his role of the chocolatier in “Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory,” died on Monday, Aug. 29, 2016, his family said. He was 83.

Wilder died at his home in Stamford, Connecticut, from complications of Alzheimer’s disease, the family said in a statement.

Celebrities have taken to social media to share their memories of the beloved actor, who also starred in classics like “Young Frankenstein” and “Blazing Saddles.”
