All those in the Beyhive who were left to wonder what Beyoncé’s next move would be after giving birth to her twins Rumi and Sir Carter finally have an answer.
Beyoncé is teaming up with Laverne Cox for a new, undisclosed project, the “Orange is the New Black” actress revealed on Twitter.
“Yes, it’s true. I am collaborating with @beyonce on a new project. #QueenBey herself,” the Emmy-nominated actress tweeted on Tuesday.
Cox, a known Bey fan, didn’t reveal what that new project would be — a track? TV show? film? — and told Access Hollywood she’s still in shock that she’s working with one of her idols. The actress said she has “no idea, to be perfectly honest” how she ended up on the project with Bey.
“I’m like, does she pick out her biggest fans ever and let them work with her? It’s pretty amazing,” she gushed. Though Cox didn’t share more information than that, she promises details will come Sept. 6.
Cox first met Beyoncé at the Grammy Awards in February, where the two posed for photos during a commercial break.
“She got up for me!” Cox said of the encounter. “Beyoncé stood up for me and just said the loveliest things. She had seen my ‘Lip Sync Battle’ performance. She just knew that I was a huge fan. I guess people had been telling her.”
Cox became the first openly trans woman to be nominated for an Emmy in 2014 for her role of trans inmate Sophia Burset in Netflix’s “Orange is the New Black.” She’s currently up for an outstanding guest actress in a drama series Emmy for the same role.
The actress, a vocal advocate for the LGBT community, was honored by Mayor de Blasio in June with a day in New York City named after her.
