Action star Jason Statham and model Rosie Huntington-Whiteley are engaged.
A representative for the couple confirmed the betrothal to People magazine after Statham, 48, and Huntington-Whiteley, 28, walked the Golden Globe Awards red carpet Sunday with a Neil Lane engagement ring on her hand. The magazine described it as a round-cut diamond set on a diamond band.
The English couple has been together since 2010. People said that earlier this month they vacationed in Phuket, Thailand, and per previous reports the two attended the wedding of filmmaker Guy Ritchie and model Jacqui Ainsley in Wiltshire, England, on July 30.
Before the confirmation came, “Fast & Furious” and “Expendables” star Statham played coy with “Entertainment Tonight” correspondent Nancy O’Dell, who asked him on the red carpet, “When are you going to pop the question?”
“It’s none of your business,” he replied jokingly. “She’s a sweetheart. You’ll see. You’ll find out.”
Neither Statham nor Huntington-Whiteley have commented on social media.
In April, the model — who began posing for Victoria’s Secret in 2006 and has appeared in “Transformers: Dark of the Moon” (2011) and “Mad Max: Fury Road” (2015) — said in the print edition of Self magazine that she and Statham were “best mates,” adding, “He makes me laugh every day. I almost feel like I never had a proper boyfriend before!”
Statham had dated English actress and TV personality Kelly Brook until breaking up in the mid-2000s.
According to the fashion magazine Marie Claire, Huntington-Whiteley was in a relationship with London gallery-owner Tyrone Wood, son of The Rolling Stones’ Ron Wood, until late 2010. She then briefly dated French actor Olivier Martinez after the two met at that November’s Victoria’s Secret fashion show, in which she became the first English model to become a Victoria’s Secret Angel.
