It could be real, or perhaps the latest in a line of Shia LaBeouf performance-art projects, but the “Transformers” star reportedly told a grocery-store checkout person that he and Mia Goth are engaged.
Us Weekly said an anonymous onlooker reportedly saw Goth, 22, wearing a diamond engagement ring and overheard LaBeouf, 29, tell a cashier at one of Southern California’s Gelson’s supermarkets that he and the model-actress plan to marry. LaBeouf’s representative did not respond to the magazine’s request for comment.
Us additionally said, without citing specifics or a source, that the actor had referred to Goth as his fiancée during the Feb. 19-20 live stream of “#Elevate,” in which he and his performance-art partners Nastja Säde Rönkkö and Luke Turner rode an Oxford, England, elevator for most of 24 hours. No other outlet appears to corroborate that reported statement.
LaBeouf and Goth evidently began dating after filming director Lars von Trier’s ensemble drama “Nymphomaniac: Volume II” (2014). Us Weekly said in December 2012 that the two had been seeing each other for roughly a month, after being spotted together at a Los Angeles Starbucks the day before Thanksgiving. They shopped at Marc Jacobs in West Hollywood that Dec. 21 and the following day were seen behaving romantically at Descanso Gardens in La Cañada Flintridge, California, the magazine said.
LaBeouf had ended his two-year relationship with stylist Karolyn Pho that fall.
He and Goth engaged in a highly public argument on a German street in July 2015, captured on video and posted online by “Entertainment Tonight.”
LaBeouf stars in the upcoming coming-of-age drama “American Honey,” while Goth stars with Dane DeHaan in Gore Verbinski’s upcoming horror film “A Cure for Wellness.”
