New restaurants opening in New York City this spring and beyond

  • The city's fervor for food halls isn't quitting any time soon. This year, more are opening across the city, from North End in Washington Heights (4300 Broadway) to MRKTPL at Empire Outlets in Staten Island (1 Richmond Terrace) to another midtown food hall from the Urbanspace team (570 Lexington Ave.). There's also North 3rd Street Market (103 N. Third St.), notable for its inclusion of famed pizza place Di Fara among its 15 vendors when it opens in late January/early February in Williamsburg.

  • Nomadic brewery Grimm Artisanal Ales -- which has been making its stouts and IPAs in friends' breweries since launching in 2013 -- will finally have a home. Its East Williamsburg brewery is slated to open soon at 990 Metropolitan Ave., with a taproom on-site to try its cult beers. Long Island City will also have a new spot to add to its brewery crawl, when craft beer bar Alewife NYC starts brewing its own beer on-site, at 5-14 51st Ave., likely this year.
