It was the summer of 2015, when appropriately nuzzled between Grand Central and Murray Hill, Sushi Roxx (120 E. 39th St.), a Japanese restaurant featuring servers adorned in glitzy Betsey Johnson costumes performed Top 40 musical numbers in a bright basement dining room.
On Tuesday night, former Pussycat Doll Asia Nitollano, in a silver sequined romper, kicked off the first dinner seating with group choreography to J. Lo’s “Let’s Get Loud.”
Among ‘Spice Girl’ sushi rolls and the not-at-all innuendo inducing ‘Sushi Box’ (you’ll see), a cast of servers/performers — Note: Former Pussycat Doll Asia Nitollano will not be refilling your soy sauce or removing edamame shells from your table, she is strictly the talent — will entertain and feed you in this brand-new subterranean sushitainment venue.
Mars 2112 is long out of the picture, but for a kitschy night out with friends, or a perhaps a PG-rated bachelor party, Sushi Roxx is NYC’s “unique, high energy, vibe dining destination restaurant” that you probably can’t resist checking out.
