Police are investigating the death of a man who was found shot inside a car parked in Manhattan early Thursday morning.
Authorities say that at 1:27 a.m. on Jan. 23, the NYPD responded to a 911 call of a man shot in the vicinity of West 51st Street and 10th Avenue in Hell’s Kitchen. Upon their arrival, officers found a 31-year-old man inside of a black SUV with a gunshot wound to his upper torso.
EMS rushed the victim to Mount Sinai West Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. His identity is being withheld pending family notification.
A preliminary investigation found that victim was involved in a dispute with an unidentified individual, possibly more than one, at a different location and tried to flee the location in the vehicle after he was shot. At this time, the NYPD could not provide a description of the perpetrators. Officers also recovered a knife near the vehicle.
No arrests have been made at this time. The investigation is ongoing.
