Police are searching for a man who allegedly raped and robbed a 25-year-old woman at knifepoint in a Bronx hotel late last month, authorities said.
The NYPD released on Thursday details about the attack, which happened about 9 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 29, inside Hotel OPUS at 1440 East 222nd St. in Baychester.
Police said the man entered the room with the woman, pulled a knife, and “made several demands” to the victim to cooperate before taking $400 from her wallet. He then forced her to remove her clothes and forcibly raped her, police said.
The alleged rapist fled on foot, heading south on East 222nd Street. EMS took the victim to NYC Health + Hospitals/Jacobi, where she was listed in stable condition.
Police described the suspect as a man with a dark complexion. He was last seen wearing glasses, a white T-shirt, blue jeans, white sneakers, and carrying a black backpack.
Law enforcement sources said the victim and the suspect were “acquaintances,” but did not say why they were at the hotel.
