A Bronx woman has been arrested and charged with murder after allegedly stabbing her boyfriend to death in the apartment they shared, police said.

Cynthia Phillips, 37, was taken into custody late Monday after officers responding to a 911 call found Dwayne Valentine, 40, with a stab wound to the chest inside their Kingsbridge Heights apartment at 2525 Grand Ave., according to the NYPD.

Officers from the 52nd Precinct arrived at the scene around 11:07 p.m. Monday, where EMS personnel pronounced Valentine dead.

Police sources said an initial investigation determined that the couple had been arguing before the stabbing, though the circumstances of the dispute remain unclear. Sources added that Phillips had no prior criminal history.

The NYPD said Phillips was charged early Tuesday with murder, manslaughter, and criminal possession of a weapon.

Two children were reportedly in the apartment at the time of the incident and have since been placed in the care of the Administration for Children’s Services, according to the Daily News.
