Slashing after argument on Eighth Avenue
Police said they are looking for a man who allegedly slashed a victim after an argument in front of Auntie Anne’s at 664 Eighth Ave. On Feb. 26, around 8:45 p.m., the man and a 20-year-old male victim got into an argument, officials said, which escalated into a physical altercation, during which the man allegedly displayed a “cutting instrument” and slashed the victim in the left cheek. EMS took the victim to Bellevue Hospital, police said, where he received 75 stitches.
Food bought with stolen dough
Police said they are looking for a woman in connection to a burglary inside Cafeteria restaurant at 119 Seventh Ave., on Friday, Jan. 31. Around 4:20 a.m., a woman was allegedly seen on surveillance camera entering the manager’s office, where she took $400 from the desk, police said, and returned to the restaurant and ordered food. The woman paid for the food, officials said, and left the restaurant.
Package theft in apartment building
A woman was arrested in connection with a package theft inside a building near W. 21 St. and Eighth Avenue, police said. On Friday, Feb. 28, at 3 p.m., a woman living in the building told police that multiple people entered the building and took property from her package. A witness, a male acquaintance of the victim, told police he heard rummaging through packages and when he looked out of his window, he saw three people who didn’t live there and who were leaving the building. The stolen property was a Rockland Melbourne suitcase, valued at $57.
Window damage at pizza place
Police said they arrested a woman after she allegedly caused property damage inside Artichoke Basille’s Pizza at 114 10th Ave., on Sunday, March 1. Around 12:20 a.m., a male employee of the pizza shop told police that the woman, who was previously known to the store, tried to enter to use the bathroom. After the employee denied her entry, she allegedly kicked four windows, causing damage that exceeded $250. The woman then fled uptown on 10th Avenue to West 19th Street, police said, and was arrested without incident for criminal mischief.
