A 13-year-old teen from a Hudson Square alternative school stabbed another teen Wednesday on Grand St. and West Broadway around noon, according to police.

The victim, also 13, was stabbed in the ribcage and was in stable condition at St. Vincent’s Hospital Wednesday, according to Rick Lee, the community affairs officer for the First Precinct.

He said that hospital officials indicated that the victim would recover and the injury was not serious. Detectives at the First Precinct are questioning the suspect.

Lee said that a long-standing feud between two students of The Door was the likely cause of the altercation a few blocks away from the school.

The Door is a youth development agency that educates and helps teens who have dropped out or been expelled from other schools.

Lee said that both students were suspended from their previous schools before going to The Door.

The organization, according to its Web site, was founded in 1970 and serves people between 12 and 21 years old. It offers free health care, prenatal care, mental health counseling, legal services, G.E.D. and E.S.L. classes, college preparation, career development services and training, job placement and daily meals.

Officials with the group and its parent organization, University Settlement, did not return two calls for comment.
