A construction worker


on the Water Tunnel project at the Holland Tunnel exit rotary at Hudson St. between Ericsson Pl. and Laight St. was working with heavy equipment at the bottom of the shaft 150 ft. below the street on Wednesday night, Dec. 1 when he was pinned beneath a drill, described as being about the size of a car, police and fire officials said. The worker, 51, sustained a broken leg, which an Emergency Medical Service team set before the victim was lifted to the surface and taken to St. Vincent’s Hospital. Police closed off Hudson St. during the rescue.
