Angels flying high after police award

The Guardian Angels and Christopher St. Patrol received awards two weeks ago from Patrol Borough Manhattan South for assisting in an arrest of a pot dealer on Christopher St. in October. Five Angels — street names Crazy J, Midnight, Shaggy, Big Mike and Big J — and Patrol President David Poster saw the transaction go down on Hudson St., chased the dealer and held him across from the Lucille Lortel Theatre until police arrived. The man allegedly had 38 bags of marijuana. Above, Deputy Inspector Theresa Shortell, Sixth Precinct commander, second from left, presented the awards to Poster, to the right of her, and four of the Angels. Also honored was West Villager Robert Shapiro, accepting his award from Shortell in photo at right, for helping in an arrest by following a suspect and keeping him in sight until police arrived.
